Copywriting Blogs
If there’s a copywriting topic that I haven’t covered on Unmemorable Title, then the chances are that one of these tortured Byronesque figures will have.
Rob Writes is the copywriting blog of Rob Wood, a copywriter from South London currently working for Carphone Warehouse. My number one port of call for great advice on buying a phone – and simple and effective copy tips.
My favourite post: Kebabs Uncovered
Textpixels PR & Copywriting Blog
Katy Evans-Bush (of Baroque in Hackney fame) isn’t just a great poet. She’s also a PR guru and amazing copywriter. Best of all, she uses a comment I made as a testimonial. As if I’m someone of note. One for your RSS feed, without a doubt.
My favourite post: Any of them. Seriously. It’s all gold.
Successful copywriter, expert blogger and an all round great bloke, Ben Locker’s often amusing articles are guaranteed to be insightful and enlightening.
My favourite post: A Letter of Apology Template
Matthew Hill’s a writer, blogger and copyist. Probably in that order. His insights into the effort it takes to write creatively are always appreciated, and any posts showing his dry take on media trends and hysteria are well worth a look.
My favourite post: Waking Up Gives You Cancer
Sarah Turner’s writing style is accessible to even the most casual reader, and her blog articles are no exception. This calm and readable approach to blogging is demonstrated in her semi-regular language advice posts. If you’ve ever wondered what the difference between “which” and “that” is, Turner Ink will sit you down and explain.
My favourite post: How to get going on Twitter
Martin Williams’ UK Copywriting blog has a fine selection of in-depth articles for avid readers to peruse. Be warned if you follow him on Twitter though – Martin uses two accounts so you’ll quite often get his views in stereo. Probably a good job that he knows what he’s talking about!
My favourite post: How to source great images for your blog
SEO Blogs
Search Engine Optimisation is a rapidly moving industry, so it always helps to have a second opinion. These giants of Google and behemoths of Bing are truly the masters of the SERPs.
Just Roger It – The Manchester SEO Blog
There’s more to Roger Davies than a penchant for innuendo-laden URLs. Technically-minded, this man can see the Matrix. Rumours that he can also canonicalize the URLs, up the keyword density and source the Matrix some good quality backlinks is as yet unfounded.
One of the most promising young SEO experts in the country, Kieron Hughes provides wisdom beyond his years. What’s more, he’s constantly at the cutting edge of Social Media, and was on Meme before you’d even heard of Twitter. You luddite.
Tom describes himself as an SEO copywriter, freelance journalist and general wordsmith. That’s succinct and accurate enough for me.
The FirstFound Blog – SEO News & Views
I won’t lie. The main reason this is here is because I’m in charge of editing it. Saying that, there’s some great contributions from some knowledgeable bloggers here. Well worth a look.
