Google Toolbar PR Tool Has Updated

I’ve just heard the news on Twitter that Google’s Toolbar Page Rank tool has been updated. A quick check around Unmemorable Title seems to confirm that, and I’m now the proud owner of a PR3 domain (interestingly, only the About and Portfolio inner pages have a Page Rank of their own).

So what does this mean? Does Page Rank really matter? Is the Toolbar rank so far removed from reality that it doesn’t matter at all?

Let me know your thoughts.

I know it’s good form to avoid clichés wherever possible, but we’ve all had days when we know we need to pick up a pen or settle in at the keyboard and just don’t feel creative. Luckily, bloggers the world over have developed cunning methods that allow them to put out a few hundred words of decent, usable content without the effort of re-inventing the wheel.  We just open up the clichés folder and let her rip.

The next time you’re having a brain drain, or you’ve run headfirst into severe writer’s block, use one of these little tricks of the trade.

The FirstFound Blog Launches Today

The FirstFound Blog - Coming Very Soon

The FirstFound Blog - Coming Very Soon

It might be the case that I drop the SEO from Unmemorable Title and focus on copywriting, as I’ve been appointed editor of The FirstFound Blog.

It’s launching some time this week, and there’s actually a decent spread of writers there. It’s a bit of an unknown quantity on the blog front, as the only other regular blogger on the list is currently Roger Davies (of The Manchester SEO Blog) who will be handling the SEO and web development side of things. That said, there’s a lot of experience there – and blogging’s very much “learn by doing”.

Obviously, it’s going to be a bit more corporate and less abrasive than UT is, but it’s worth adding to your RSS readers just for the sheer scope of the thing. So far it’s pencilled in to cover SEO, web design, web development, photography, movies, sport and PPC, so there should well be something there for everyone.

From a writing point of view, I’m actually delighted to have the chance to work on this – mainly because it’s the first time since I’ve been at FirstFound that I’ve been allowed to write in my own style. Previously I’ve been hidebound by forced adherence to our “house style” – which was developed by a freelancer and comes across as oh so slightly smug.

Of course, if The FirstFound Blog falls flat on its face, don’t let it influence your opinions of me or this fine piece of work!

Trial by Twitter – Jan Moir Feels the Brunt of a Social Media Backlash

Remember the days that when Jan Moir, or some other Daily Mail moronic columnist (other right-wing, poorly written trashy tabloids are available) would vomit some bile into a column, and the only thing you could do about it was write an irate letter to the editor?

Thankfully, those days are gone. Thanks to social media, it’s never been easier to round up an angry mob and force newspaper editors to take notice. But does trial by Twitter work?
